Shaye Maxey

Shaye developed a passion for the healing qualities of movement after being introduced to gymnastics, dance and capoeira when she was young. She has spent over a decade of daily training as a capoeirista and dancer of various styles. Her lifelong experience with movement in different fields led her to begin her teaching journey in ballet, and gymnastics at 18 years old. This opportunity gave Shaye a new sense of purpose and eventually led to her love for teaching yoga.

Shaye began her yoga practice while pursuing her BFA for painting and drawing at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Yoga provided the movement and reconnection to her body and mind that she needed after long hours sitting or standing at easels.

After graduating in 2023, she was inspired to bring the movement and sense of community that she was used to back in her life again by getting her yoga teacher training. Shaye completed her 200-hour YTT training at Vikasa Academy in 2023, where she became a certified Hatha Yoga teacher.

Her intention is to create space for her students to connect to their strong physical foundation, while allowing them to evolve into an energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual practice. As an empath, Shaye feels called to use her healing energies through teaching yoga and the visual arts. She believes in the quiet power of practicing individually within a shared space—where community, support, and personal growth unfold simultaneously.
